BankWest has announced that it has agreed a deal with Flight Centre to install the bank's ATMs in more than 100 Flight Centre outlets across Australia, something that will benefit customers looking for easy banking access.

Over the next year, the bank will install the ATMs across the Flight Centre's shops, including Escape Travel and Student Flights outlets too, with 24/7 access to the ATMs available at certain busier and more popular locations.

"This partnership, alongside our 7-Eleven ATM network, is key to increasing our customers' transactional capabilities as we grow our customer base on the east coast," said BankWest chief executive of retail, Ian Corfield.

BankWest currently has 359 ATM machines in 7-Eleven outlets on the eastern seaboard, allowing consumers convenient banking options and access to their cash. With the addition of the Flight Centre-based ATMs, more than 700 of the machines will be available.

Mr Corfield added that teaming up with Flight Centre is an "innovative" way to deal with the problem of securing locations for the bank's ATMs in what it deems a "mature market".

The machines will begin to be placed in Flight Centre stores from the third quarter of 2008, BankWest has announced, with the ATMs serviced by the Cashcard ATM Network, a First Data-owned company.

According to the BankWest website, it has around 660,000 customers and deals with a quarter of all bank advances and deposits in Perth, where the bank is based.

BankWest is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UK financial institution HBOS.
