Comparing credit cards can be a tough decision - which is cheapest; which gives the most rewards; which has the lowest rate of interest? All these are pressing questions when looking at credit card offers.

Here, we run through some of the most competitive low interest credit cards on the market at the moment.

The St George Vertigo MasterCard offers zero per cent balance transfers for up to six months and gives users a 55-day interest-free period on all goods purchased with the credit card. A 10.99 per cent rate is charged after that period.

Awarded Australia's cheapest card by Money Magazine in early 2008, the $45 annual fee brings with it an array of rewards.

A statement on MasterCard's website reads: "No waiting, fees, or accumulating points - simply use your St George Credit Card and choose from a wide range of offers including entertainment, leisure experiences, shopping, travel, wine and magazine subscriptions."

Meanwhile, BankWest's Lite MasterCard also offers customers a 55-day interest free period, before charging customers 9.89 per cent on purchases after that time.

The credit card also comes with 24 hours a day access online, a number of rewards and up to three additional cardholders on the same bank account.

HSBC's low rate credit card also has many of the industry standards - such as a 55-day interest free period and zero per cent charged on purchases until June.

The credit card is free for the first year, after which a $39 annual charge is required. Account holders can access their money from up to 800,000 ATMs across the world for no extra charge.
